About These Services

The William James INTERFACE Referral Service​offered through the Freedman Center, is a mental health and wellness referral Helpline available Monday through Friday, 9 am-5 pm, at 888-244-6843 (toll-free). This is a free, confidential referral service for residents of participating communitiesCallers from these participating communities are matched with licensed mental health providers from our extensive database, on average, within 2 weeks of their call to INTERFACE. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the caller.

These professionals will answer questions about mental health conditions and make a referral to a treatment center in one’s vicinity. It is not a provider of telepsychiatry sessions nor does it offer telediagnosis.

In addition to a 24/7 helpline and live chat where one can speak to a mental health specialist for a consultation, Mental Health Hotline also provides mental health information for the more casual inquirer via a stream of frequently updated blogs and articles.

iPrevail Peer Counselors are trained in areas of stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, financial stress. iPrevail chats are very helpful because students struggling with mental health can talk to someone who has experienced similar things. iPrevail does not provide clinical, diagnostic or medical advice or procedures.

Peer Chats are 24/7 and free to try, but not unlimited. Prevail offers online self-paced cognitive behavioral therapy programs available for $9.99/month and unlimited.
